Safety of women in India
It is so virulent in media that the safety of women in India is zero and there is so much concern about it on the internet flying in all directions. So, is it a problem that is so big to deal with or something had made it to appear so. I will not discuss about the statistics or about the present safety measures that are provided to women in India. I will just try to present the truth and leave the after-thought up to you. This article is not written as a support to something but to show you what really happening to women in India and reasons for that.
I don't know about other countries but in India women are very much respected in a family. If you want to experiment it, meet your Indian friend and try to talk a little vulgar about his wife, mother or sister, you don't need to be too much abusive too and escape from him unscathed. If you do, he is not considered a man in Indian society but I can guarantee you that you rarely find such breed who will take it easy in India. Even if you abuse his father, he may not care but if you abuse his women, he will be different person than you knew. If you say that it is done on his personal ego but not on his respect to his women, you can listen the same men abusing their father everywhere and their ego doesn't work there.
Coming to the rapes happening in India, aforementioned I don't want to get into statistics cause a loss is a loss whether it happened once, twice or thousand times but when you take into consideration, the different laws that had been implemented around the world, you can find that there is not even a single law that has successfully could able to stop these atrocities on women in their society not even in Islamic state whether they are given capital punishments for rapes and adultery. Though everybody tries to raise their voice against these atrocities on women, there isn't a single person I heard finding a better solution in this modern society which provides complete safety to women. Set aside the safety of women, you tell me where there is safety for anybody. Is there a safety for men? Aren't men being murdered? Killed in war? Being cheated by women? Killed by their own wives? You can still find many men in India who sell their kidney for money to live with their families. If you don't believe me, you can go on medical survey and news. By saying this I am not denying the facts that women equally faced similar situations. I am here to say, this world is no paradise for men and purgatory for women. Everybody face their own difficult situations. Still some might say women suffer more because of men than vise versa. This is about the direct and indirect cause. To understand this, in India mostly men earn for their home of nearly 5 people. (Keep in mind, I am not saying women doesn't earn in India). How many of you think that he takes in that hardship because he likes to do that? Or he has to provide food, shelter and security for his family. How many men you could find that keeps financial responsibilities on women and he runs home? How many women in India you could find that are willing to take their families financial responsibilities and outdoor work and keep their husbands to look over house? How many of you knew that most of men enroll for defence not to secure the nation as their first priority but to secure their own house financially cause that's the own way to earn money for their circumstances in a right way. I am not saying that women doesn't go for defence, but I am explaining the responsibility took by a man in India. This is all a suffering to him. Isn't it? You could tell me, if he doesn't want to suffer, ask him not to marry and not to make home then doesn't he have to suffer all these? It is a bad suggestion. Ask and comprehend yourself if this thought struck your mind.
When you consider crime as a whole, there would be murders, plundering, rapes and other illegal activities. Do you think rapes happen in India more often than any of the above? If you say, yes, then you again need to go to crime survey in India. This doesn't mean I support rape and let it happen since it is a minor issue. Murders and other atrocities are happening since the beginning of the civilization and it is continuing at the same pace till now. Could anybody able to eradicate them? Could they able to reduce the crime rate? What kind of security was given to people to curb them completely? And now the issue of rape is so prevalent in social network as it is the only social issue, I ask you as one of them who spread, what kind of security you need from people and What you want from law? If you say something would prevent this without disrupting the democracy of the country, country is willing to accept it. All they do is, spreading news but never a solution. Somebody would say "respect women". I ask them what does it mean respecting a women? Does in this world every men respect another men? What kind of respect that men altogether get and women won't get? Somebody says that, women too have their own dreams and wishes, yes they do, but it is been told that parents won't consider the wishes of a woman. Do you think men have the privilege? It is to know that still Indian men follow a schedule, have to pursue good education not to get wise but to get a good job. A good job is not enough, they need job security, and still it is not enough, he should gain status otherwise he is not consider and respected. He is free to get into society in expense to the responsibility he carries to be a man. Don't be at a false notion that I am presenting the greatness of men. I am telling that similar to women men have their own kind of situation and problems. I don't want to prolong this in anyway.
Now coming to the solutions for the problem that women are facing in the society. One solution would be calling so called God and ask him to turn people into all good no bad. As this was never a solution, we should take in more pragmatic solutions.
When we approach a solution the first would be the self security means avoiding ourselves getting into danger. In this context one has to keep in mind that laws and police are there to punish the accused and instill fear of punishment but security of an individual lies in their own hands. Somebody will say women has security nowhere even in crowd or alone. Nobody can rape you in crowd, if somebody tries molesting, you can always drag them and beat them nobody in society would encourage somebody molesting in public. If you are alone means you should take your own security. Not just women it applies to men.
Second thing would be obliteration of thoughts of common sex and molestation among the minds of men. Is that even possible? Completely it may not be possible but we can reduce the victims of such bad thoughts by prohibiting the propagation of sexual content into people. Is it a real solution? somebody might ask. Use of vulgar is so easy as talking but many of us hesitate to talk cause we are taught that it's unsocial and unethical. What if somebody propagates that it is so common and everybody does it? People starts taking in vulgar language as fashion and forget that we should respect others while talking, the same way, there would be some people who would consider sexual things as some dogs would do it in middle of the street. The result would be to try what it is like to have sex with women they find. It is an act of provocation where social media has to take responsibility and now a days nobody is there to teach an act of self control but teaches how to seduce and how to mingle.
These two will never ever happen. Cause first is considered as restriction for movement of women irrespective of time and place and the second is concerned with entertainment. Nobody would accept it. Nobody would listen if someone has to say it.
We spoiled ourselves in many ways calling it evolution, trend or whatever. Freedom to an individual needs his own power to protect it or they don't deserve it. Nobody can give equal freedom to everybody to move as he/she wants. A solider can't sit into a conference room and an executive can't just walk into war. We have our limitation to face situations. One should have enough knowledge or strength to hold the freedom.
One can't just wide open the door and sleep for cool outside air because police is their to protect them. They will lock the door and sleep inside thought it will swelter them. It doesn't mean it will offend their freedom to sleep comfortably but an act of self defense and it also doesn't mean robbery won't happen. Only providing every basic amities to everybody in a society equally will prevent it, which is not possible. When society is not planned for this, you can't ask somebody to be as good as you. You can only transform it from core.
Don't form cults and defame something that's not yours. Try to real truth and try to accept the proper solution even if it means partially giving up your freedom. If you are not ready for that, you will never reach what is right. Know that this is not utopia we built. We are in society where desire and money rules and you are also a part of it with no exception.
